AS BAD AS IT JETS

Today, the New York Jets hosted the New England Patriots in a Week 12 divisional matchup.

The Jets entering this game at 3-7 had just come off a horrific loss to Buffalo back in Week 10. While they did not play as bad as they did then, they still lost the game 27-13. Before the 4th quarter, the Jets were very much in the game. McCown completed 26 of his 45 passes for 1 touchdown and 1 interception. As a matter of fact, they once led 7-0 after McCown connected with Jermaine Kearse for the game’s first touchdown.

The Jets defense played exceptionally well in the first half limiting the Patriots to only 10 points. However, that is the same amount of points the Jets were able to score. Once the second half began, things started spiraling further and further out of control. The Jets defense allowed Brady to hook up with Edelman and Gronkowski way too many times. Not to mention, they let rookie running back Sony Michel run wild for 133 yards tiring their defense.

In addition, multi-million-dollar man Trumaine Johnson has been absolutely lazy out on the field since returning from his injury in Week 10 and only has 1 interception on the season back in Week 1 that he fumbled. Not only did the Jets struggle defensively in the second half but the offense still could not find a rhythm.

The offense that scored 42 points in Week 6 against the Colts was nowhere to be found for the fifth straight game. To date, the Jets have not beat the Patriots since December 2015.

As they are not mathematically eliminated from the playoffs yet, a win today could have kept some hope alive. Now one more loss would guarantee that the Jets would not make the playoffs for the 8th straight season. Keep being hopeful Jets fans…anything is possible.
