J-E-T-S, JUST END THE SUFFERING

Yesterday, the New York Jets took on the Jacksonville Jaguars at TIAA Bank Stadium. The Jets were beat right from the start when Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette ran the ball all the way to the red-zone which would turn into an easy touchdown. However, Jacksonville missed the extra point so the Jets could march right down the field and take a 7-6 lead. That is just what they did. This broke a streak of 31 straight games without scoring a touchdown on their opening drive for the Jets dating back to Week 8 of the 2017 season against the Atlanta Falcons.

Unfortunately, the result of both of these games was the same. An ugly loss. Just as it appeared that QB Sam Darnold put that pitiful performance he had Monday night behind him, another rough outing would occur. On the very next Jets possession, an ill-advised throw by Darnold was picked-off. This would be the first of three for him on the day. Darnold completed 21 of 30 pass attempts for 167 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions. These picks could have easily been avoided had Darnold just thrown the ball out of bounds when he could not find an open receiver. This is a rookie mistake and he is no longer a rookie therefore, these self-inflicting wounds have got to stop. You cannot turn the ball over 3 times and expect to win the game.

Once again, the Offensive Line was horrendous. They offered Darnold zero protection. This also caused him to rush his throws leading to bad decisions that winded up being intercepted. These excuses have got to stop and the Jets need to play like they did against Dallas the next few weeks or they could be in for a historically awful season. The trade deadline is 2 days away and the Jets would be wise to trade for players that could make the O-Line better. Next week, the Jets will travel to South Florida to take on the winless Miami Dolphins. All I have to say is that the Fish better not get their first win of the season next week. Don’t worry Jets fans…there is still time to turn the season around but only with a Jet victory next week.
