WHITE MAGIC RUNS OUT QUICKLY FOR JETS IN A MOST DEPRESSING WAY

Two Thursdays ago, the New York Jets took on the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium as a part of Thursday Night Football. The Jets ended up losing the game 45-30 but the game really wasn’t that close. In addition, the AFC Offensive Player of the Week in week 8, Jets QB Mike White left the game in the first half with an apparent arm injury and would have to miss the rest of the game to giveaway to third-string QB Josh Johnson. Johnson had a pretty solid night although the game was well out of reach. The good news is White should be ready to go for the Jets next week. The bad news is that the Jets are 2-6 on the season and any chances of making the playoffs are slipping further and further out of reach.

In terms of the offense, they scored 30+ points for the second straight week in a row dating back to November 2019. Johnson completed 27 of 41 passes for 317 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception. The lone interception came on the final drive with the Jets knocking on the door trying to make the game a one score game. But still, who knows if the Jets would have been able to recover the second onside kick attempt after coming pretty close to recovering the first one. Also, who knows if Mike White would’ve been able to put up more than 45 points as that is an extremely tough task.

In terms of the defense, they were absolutely abysmal. They allowed the Colts to score touchdowns on their first four possessions. It was noted that the defense did not practice all week being that this was a short week and it certainly looked like it. They clearly were not ready to play football as Carson Wentz and the Colts were able to continuously march down the field with ease

This week, the Jets will return home to take on the Buffalo Bills for the first time this season. The Bills have an extremely explosive offense and an outstanding defense so the Jets are going to have to play the best they possibly can if they want to win. The good news is that the Jets had extra time to prepare for the Bills as the game wasn't until this Sunday and they just played two Thursdays ago. At this rate, the defense should most certainly play better because they will have more than their usual amount of practice. If the offense keeps doing what they’ve been doing the past couple of weeks, it could be an interesting game. Don’t worry Jets fans... maybe Mike White will be able to recapture some of that Halloween magic that he had back in week 8
