Jets VS Dolphins Preview

As the Jets fell to 3-10 last week, and with that playoff elimination, they look to develop rookie QB Zach Wilson more as they travel down to Miami to Hard Rock Stadium for a meeting with QB Tua Tagavailoa and the red hot 6-7 Dolphins. Unlike the Jets, Miami still has some hope left in their season, and this big 5 game winning streak has helped propel them into the playoff race. The Jets have nothing left to do, but to play spoilers against their opponents. It's possible that could happen today, but things must be cleaner for the Jets in order to come out with any result.

For the injury report, The Jets don't have an outstanding list finally, as George Fant is listed as doubtful today and most likely will not play. It seems likely OT Chuma Edoga will step in to start at Fant's place, but that doesn't sound too promising, unfortunately. Edoga has had his fair share of pressure he creates for Jets QB's with his lack of blocking ability at times, so the Jets will definitely look to have extra pressure coming from the left side. RB' Ty Johnson and La'Mical Perine are also inactive today, but RB Michael Carter and Tevin Coleman both come back in this matchup as well. For the Dolphins, S Javon Holland is the only significant name that the Dolphins will be without, along with 4 players being listed as out for this one today too.

For a Dolphins preview, as familiar, QB Tua Tagavailoa will be at the helm today. Although they are missing their top receiver in Jaylen Waddle due to being in COVID Protocol, they still feature WR Devante Parker, WR Mack Hollins (who scored in their last meeting at Metlife), and Albert Wilson, but they cause more damage in the backfield. RB's Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed are the one two punch in their backfield and can make or break games for this Dolphins squad. They are a run first pass second offense, so I would highly anticipate them to try to run the ball down the Jets upfront. The Jets must be disciplined and get the stops as needed throughout. Offensively, the Jets need to have longer lasting drives and avoid handing it back to the defense quickly. The defense simply will run out of gas, and then it's the Dolphins game to win by that point.

For the Dolphins defensively, they do force turnovers and have played better down the stretch this season. Star CB Xavien Howard will pose a threat to anyone on his side of the field all game, and with the Jets being down Corey Davis for the rest of the season and Elijah Moore still out today, Keelan Cole and Denzel Mims will be the starting two WR's. The Jets should keep it simple and keep the ball on the ground with Michael Carter and not overwork the struggling receivers.

For today's prediction, it is a pretty easy decision here. With the struggles of the Jets in recent games, I simply don't see them winning this game. Although they will keep it competitive, the Dolphins do have the edge here. I will take the Dolphins winning this one by a score of 27-14.
