PLENTY OF BLAME TO BE TOSSES AROUND IN THIS JETS DISASTER

Last Sunday, the New York Jets took on the New Orleans Saints at MetLife Stadium. The Jets ended up getting blown out 30-9 by a team that was in the middle of a 5-game losing streak. This is now the fifth season in the past six years that the Jets have lost at least 10 or more games as they now sit at a disappointing 3-10 on the season.

In terms of the offense, they could not generate anything. Wilson completed 19 of 42 passes for 202 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions. This is the third game this season that the Jets have failed to score a touchdown. One could make the argument that at least Wilson didn’t throw any interceptions or that he was down his top two wide receivers in Corey Davis and Elijah Moore and running backs in Michael Carter and Tevin Coleman. Nonetheless, this league is not going to feel sorry for you if you have injuries. Excuses are unacceptable and you need to come up with a gameplan to put your best foot forward and try to win the damn game. On a positive note, it looks like the Jets have found their kicker in Eddy Pineiro, formerly of the Chicago Bears as he was 3 for 3 on field goal attempts but those would be the only points the Jets would score all afternoon.

In terms of the defense, while they did allow 30 or more points for the sixth time in the last eight weeks, you can’t exactly blame them as they were practically on the field for the whole game as the offense continued to sputter. Again, there were a couple of questionable penalties, and it did not help matters with New Orleans well on their way to victory, Saints HC Sean Payton running up the score by having QB Taysom Hill run in for a 44-yard score on a 3rd down play. Payton is famous for this, and he did it to the Jets back when they last played in 2017. Not a whole lot has changed since then as the Jets are still in the basement of the AFC East and the Saints kept their playoff hopes alive.

This week, the Jets will travel to South Florida to take on the Miami Dolphins for the second time this season. Miami won the first meeting 24-17 at the Meadowlands in Week 11. The Dolphins are very much in the thick of the playoff race in the AFC and the Jets will be looking to play spoiler. History has proven that both teams love to spoil it for one another. Jets fans...could this be your first win over a divisional opponent in two years?
