DARNOLD-1, DEFENSE-0

Today the New York Jets hosted the Green Bay Packers in their final home game of the 2018 season. QB Sam Darnold had one of, if not his best game of the season as he completed 24 out of 35 passes for 341 yards, 3 touchdowns, and no interceptions. Unfortunately, being the “Same Old Jets” that they are, they found a way to lose in the most heartbreaking way possible.

Penalties, penalties, penalties. Do not even get me started. They had 16 total penalties for over 130 yards, which is just disgraceful. Todd Bowles should be really proud of himself as his team continues to beat themselves as opposed to other teams beating them. As a matter of fact, the Jets led 35-20 in the beginning of the 4th quarter. However, once again they weren’t able to seal the deal. Green Bay would go on to score 18 unanswered points taking the lead by three. The Jets then had to kick a game-tying field goal to send the game to overtime.

Many fans were hoping to enjoy one more home victory for their beloved Jets this year, but that was out of the question. In all likelihood, next week looks to be even worse as they have to travel to Foxborough to play the Patriots the second time this year. The good news is that Darnold continues to develop and show great promise. This along with having $100 million in cap space next year and hiring the right head coach could finally lead to some hope for this team. Don’t worry Jets fans…while the present seems bleak, the future is brighter than ever.
