DARNOLD BACK FOR THE WIN

Today, the New York Jets traveled to Buffalo for a rematch with the Bills. Many people
expected another brutal loss due to their horrid record and their inability to finish games.
However, they were able to pull off an epic comeback to win the game.

Sam Darnold’s return was commendable as he completed 16 out of 24 passes for 170 yards, a
touchdown, and an interception. But the Jets did not get off to a good start as they let Josh Allen
run wild and make big plays in the first half. At the end of the first quarter, they trailed 14-3. The
penalties were just piling up and the offense continued to have no spark. At the half, the Jets
moved closer but still trailed 17-13. Unfortunately, the third quarter started off on a bad note.
Sensational kickoff returner Andre Roberts muffed the punt and Buffalo recovered the ball in
the red zone. However, the Jets defense was able to hold them to a field goal making it 20-13.

The Jets saved their best plays for the end of the game unlike previous matchups in which they
choked. In the fourth quarter, Sam Darnold marched the Jets down the field for the game-tying
touchdown pass to Robby Anderson. The game was then tied at 20 apiece. The Bills responded
by kicking a field goal later in the quarter making it a 23-20 lead. Then the Jets progressed down
the field efficiently using a 2-minute drill. After not reaching the end zone on 3rd and goal, the
Jets decided to go for it on 4th instead of trying to tie the game forcing overtime. It was a gutsy
call but necessary for the Jets morale considering their 3-9 record. Elijah McGuire went on to
score the go-ahead touchdown. The game was put on ice after Trumaine Johnson intercepted
Josh Allen for the 2 nd time this afternoon.

The six-game losing streak for the Jets is over as they improve to 4-9. While today’s win looked
promising, there were still some flaws that will need to be fixed moving forward. Next week, on
Saturday the Jets will take on the Houston Texans at MetLife Stadium. Most likely, the Jets will
need to be light years better if they want to get another win. After today’s victory, it is still likely
that Bowles will be fired at the end of the season. Keep being faithful Jets fans…your
quarterback is a strong competitor and will only continue to get better in years to come.
