Jets vs Bills Preview

The week 14 matchup for the lifeless New York Jets will see them traveling up to Orchard Park to play against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.

Hallelujah!! It looks like Sam Darnold will finally be back today for the first time since week 9 against the Dolphins where he had 4 INTs to top off a pourous 13-6 loss in Miami. Hopefully this break gives our young QB some time to figure out some of the mistakes he was making and gives him a few opportunities late down the stretch to correct what has been going wrong earlier this season for him. After last weeks matchup, the Jets would hope for a change in offensive tempo considering they just didn’t have that spark late in the fourth quarter when they needed to close the game out, which lead to a 26-22 win for the Titans.

Although RB Isaiah Crowell was listed as Questionable coming into this weeks matchup, he is going to be able to play despite a lingering ankle injury. If the Jets want to win this matchup in Upstate New York, they must be able to be more consistent offensively and when in the red zone, not always settle for 3 points instead of the 7 that normally should happen. The Bills defense is tough, and Darnold in his first game back from injury must be ready to connect on all cylinders to beat the Bills today. Unfortunately, the Jets defense stayed on the field too long last week and that eventually lead to a loss because of it.

As for the Bills, they're coming off of a tough divisional loss against the Miami Dolphins, losing 21-17. Instead of Matt Barkley destroying the Jets like last time these two teams met, we will be seeing young rookie QB Josh Allen, who looks to be a divisional nemesis for Sam Darnold in the future. He features speed and a good arm, and can be dynamic because of it. As well as Allen, the Bills also feature RB LeSean "Shady" McCoy, who we all know has had lots of success against the Jets, and tore apart the Jets defense earlier this season. They also feature the emerging rookie WR Robert Foster, who caught 3 passes for 105 yards last time these two teams played, and just recently put up a strong 2 catch for 94 yard performance with a TD against the Jaguars two weeks back. He is a deep threat the Jets must contain in order to stop the Bills passing game. The Bills recently also dropped WR Kelvin Benjamin, who also featured a threat to their offense, but now that he is gone, look for Robert Foster to receive more targets.

The Jets must be ready for this matchup, as today will mark yet another game closer to the end of the 2018 season. The main key to today's game should be the battle of the two rookie QBs. Today will mark their first ever meeting against each other, and hopefully, the success will lead the Jets way today and the winning ways will return.

Lately, I've been unconfident with the Jets, and sadly, even though I see the Jets offense return with a spark today, I see the Bills with the home field advantage and the edge in this one. Give me the Bills in this contest 34-21.
