New Look Jets Coaching Staff Coming Right Up for 2019!!

I cannot believe that it has finally happened Jets fans. I'm proud to say that we do in fact have a new Head Coach, and his name isn't Todd Bowles.

Earlier tonight, the Jets hired Ex Miami Dolphins Head Coach Adam Gase to a coaching contract that has yet to be announced. This will mark the first coach the Jets have hired with prior head coaching experience since Bill Parcells back in 1997. Along with this hiring, sources are also now saying that the chances are high that Vance Joseph will take over as defensive coordinator for Kacy Rodgers (who went to enjoy the nice weather down in Tampa Bay with the Bucs as their defensive line coach) and Gase will also bring his Offensive Coordinator Dowell Loggains from Miami as well. Not to mention that Todd Bowles also has been hired as the Bucs defensive coordinator so we wish him the best of luck in his further journeys along with Kacy Rodgers in Tampa Bay.

As for our new head coach, he is a man with plenty of coaching experience. Adam Gase went to college at Michigan State (Go Spartans) and started off his NFL coaching career without any playing experience. His first year in the NFL started in 2003 in Detroit with the Lions as a Scouting Assistant, and he was then promoted to offensive assistant in 2005 and then to QB's coach in 2007. He then went on to be an offensive assistant during the 2008 season with the San Francisco 49ers and then left to go to the Denver Broncos system where he would stick around for 5 seasons.

From 2009-2014, he worked his way up from a Wide Receivers Coach to a QB's Coach and then finally by 2013, an offensive coordinator under highly acclaimed Head Coach John Fox and Potential Hall of Fame QB Peyton Manning. He enjoyed lots of success in Denver, having one of the top offenses in the league for two seasons. He then followed John Fox once he was hired as the Bears Head Coach in 2015 and was the offensive coordinator for a subpar Bears team that season.

After his days as an offensive coordinator, in 2016, Gase finally was hired for his first ever head coaching job by our division rival Miami Dolphins (Great team Am I Right?). He would eventually spend 3 seasons in Miami and finish with a 23-26 record including the one playoff season he had where with backup QB Matt Moore went into Pittsburgh and lost to the Steelers in the wild card round in 2016. Shortly after the end of the 2018 regular season, he was fired by the Dolphins after supposedly receiving criticism of not being a good head coach and having a Dolphins team fall apart towards the end of this season.

Gase's offensive-minded playstyle along with his offensive coordinator from the Dolphins Dowell Loggains possibly being hired will have a good chance to feature mismatch coverages and a majority throwing heavy offense. With a QB like Sam Darnold, this style of offense should fit just perfectly and could very well be just what the Jets need on the offensive side of the football. This kind of attacking offense will force Darnold to scramble and find receivers who are open downfield and could lead to lots of TD's for Gang Green next year. As for the defense, assuming Vance Joseph is hired, it could be a strong 4-3 look for the defense. Even though he didn't have a great Head Coaching stint with the Broncos, Vance Joseph helped improve an ailing Dolphins defense that made the playoffs back in 2016 and hopefully would bring that success to the Jets as well.

Ultimately, all three of these hirings by the Jets would give them a new look heading into 2019, and many Jets fans may not know what to think of Gase considering his rocky ending as Head Coach in Miami. However, we all do not know what to expect, and we must not worry about these new hirings, as the Jets are trying something new coming into this year. For now, this is an experiment, and we would all hope it would bring success. Keep hanging those heads high Jets fans. Things could potentially be a whole lot better for the 2019 season!!! J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!!
