Are the Rumors around AB and Bell really true?

Lately, with all the buzz around the NFL, it may seem to all of us that anything is possible. Just look at the AFC North division, with Cleveland adding suspended RB Kareem Hunt to be competitive to their backfield next year and make them more competitive next year. Along with this, the Ravens just traded away longtime QB Joe Flacco to the Broncos, and Jason Witten all of a sudden comes out of retirement to sign with the Cowboys, and how bout them Steelers. It seems that all this buzz around star RB Le'veon Bell and star WR Antonio Brown is really going to happen. Believe it or not, our favorite Big Apple Football team is right in the thick of things with a possibility of getting either one of these guys or both of them.

Let's begin with Le'veon Bell. Bell is coming off of a lockout season in which he hadn't played a single game all year due to the fact that the Steelers wouldn't give him a Franchise Tag, and that brought him tons of controversy with it. His last game played was the AFC Divisional Round game against the Jaguars in the 2017-18 season where his team lost a shootout battle with the Jaguars 45-42 at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh. Bell had 67 yards rushing on 16 carries with a rushing TD and also had 9 catches for 88 yards and a receiving TD as well. Ultimately, even though this is just one game, Bell has proven time and time again how effective of a player he can be, recording three 1,000 yard seasons rushing in his career throughout a 5 year playing career (6 in the league). He proves that whether he has a strong offensive line or not, he can still be a beast of a player and is a true talent in the league. He also presents a receiving threat out of the backfield as well and can play very 2-dimensional as well. The only thing that holds him back is the fact that he now hasn't played for a full season and people worry he may not be the same as he once was. The only way this gets solved is if a team is to sign him (maybe the Jets).

WR Antonio Brown is our next guy up, who easily can be considered one of the NFL's most dangerous and most dynamic Wideouts around. He may not have to be one of the tall and lanky receivers like Julio Jones or Mike Evans, but he still is just as dangerous as either of those guys when playing at 100%, if not more dangerous. Although it didn't seem like it was AB's best season this year, he did record his 6th straight season with over 1,000 yards receiving and he recorded 15 TD's as well. The entire season for the Steelers was a reality check, and Antonio Brown was extremely disappointed with the way this season went, and since he is still under contract, he has requested a trade. The Jets and the 49ers were both heavily favored to land the All-star Wideout, but as of now, he is slightly favored to land with the 49ers. Rumors had it that on social media, he started to follow players on the team as well as the 49ers Instagram account, which immediately makes one question about his interest with the 49ers. Ultimately, the Jets do still play in the running for him as well, and would be a major steal for the Jets if they find a way to sign him.

With two possible All-Star caliber players both on the open market, It is time for the Jets to act now as fast as possible to get at the least one of these two players before they both are locked up and with other teams. It seems highly likely as of now that the Jets could get Le'veon Bell and let Antonio Brown go to San Francisco, but anything is possible as we know. This offseason has been full of twists and turns and as soon as free agency period hits on March 13th, expect the Jets to be busy for trying to acquire both of these guys, and expect this offseason to be one of the busiest in quite some time. The Jets cap space will be just a bit tighter after March 13th. You heard it here....
