JETS HAVE THEIR FIRST ADVERISTY TEST OF 2019

On Saturday Night, the New York Jets hosted the New Orleans Saints at MetLife Stadium for a Week 3 matchup in the preseason. Unfortunately, the Jets ended up losing 28-13. The Jets trailed immediately as Drew Brees and the Saints starting offense marched right down the field to give them an early 7-0 lead. Things got even worse during the Jets first offensive series when RB Ty Montgomery fumbled the ball setting the Saints up with excellent field position, which would eventually lead to a 10-0 lead.
While QB Sam Darnold and the Jets starting offense did not score on their opening drive, they eventually engineered a clutch drive that resulted in a 41-yard completion to WR Robby Anderson. This would eventually lead to a touchdown pass to Ty Montgomery to cut the deficit to 10-7. That would be all Darnold and the Jets staring offense would play this preseason. In the second half, the second, third, and fourth string players were not able to generate much offense or play solid defense.

Moving forward, the Jets starting defense is going to need to play more aggressive against a legitimate contender like the Saints if they want a wild card this year. In addition, Le’Veon Bell has not and will not see the field until the Week 1 Home Opener against the Bills. There is a chance that he may be rusty, but we all hope for the best. On a positive note, Jets kicker Taylor Bertolet was 2 for 2 on his field goal attempts and 1 for 1 on PAT attempts. On Thursday Night, the Jets will wrap up the preseason at MetLife Stadium against the Philadelphia Eagles with starters not likely playing. Don’t worry about this loss Jets fans…it is just preseason.
