Jets Vs Browns Monday Night Football Preview

One of the most highly anticipated games of the season is here. It's Jets Browns, and it's on primetime on Monday Night Football. With the Jets at 0-1, this game now becomes a must win, and with Sam Darnold, Quincy Enunwa, Quenin Williams, and CJ Mosley all out tonight (Enunwa done for the season), this will be a major test to see what the Jets are capable of. They will see the likes of Baker Mayfield and the Browns.

Trevor Siemian will start in place of Sam Darnold at QB tonight, and the offense will most likely be relying a little heavier on RB Le'veon Bell to take carries. Siemian has had starting QB experiences before in the NFL, and he has gone 13-11 in 24 NFL starts with the Denver Broncos. Another interesting note is with Denver, he had Demaryius Thomas as his feature wideout, and now with Gang Green, the two reunite again. Thomas was just traded from the Patriots to the Jets in exchange for a 6th round pick since the Patriots signed Antonio Brown. Hopefully, this means the chemistry between Siemian and Thomas can continue where it left off and lead to a lot of success for both players while Sam Darnold is out. As of now, Darnold is likely out 3-7 weeks with MONO!!!! LIKE YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!! This serves as a major blow to the Jets offense and now, could potentially put the Jets season in Jeopardy.

Defensively, expect S Jamal Adams to lead the defense without CJ Mosley being able to play tonight. Also, with Quenin Williams out, expect DT Henry Anderson to pick up a few more snaps, and hopefully a few more sacks. At LB, expect Nevill Hewitt to start right where he left off replacing CJ Mosley in the middle linebacker spot. Ultimately, in the long run, there will be a decent amount of changes coming into this week's matchup.

The Browns come into this game having been destroyed in their home opener to Tennessee last week 43-13, where their starting QB Baker Mayfield threw 3 interceptions. This team is young, and looks to pose a threat in the coming years. With new HC Freddie Kitchens, they now have a new offensive playbook that the players seem to like, and now they recently acquired WR Odell Beckham Jr, the former Giants WR. On the offensive side of the ball, they have him on the one side and have Jarvis Landry on the other side receiving. They also feature one of the top TE's in the NFL in David Njoku, who plays almost like another receiver rather than a Tight End. At RB, Nick Chubb looks to take the carries, and he is elusive and can cause problems for any defense he faces.

Defensively for the Browns, the front four are the strongest part of this defense. They feature Myles Garett, former Jets player Sheldon Richardson, former Giants and Dolphins player Olivier Vernon, and Larry Ogunjobi. The Jets offensive line will for sure face a big test while those 4 will continue to put pressure on Trevor Siemian as the game goes on. They must be ready to face the task in order to come out on top.  This Browns defense had 4 sacks last week, and 3 of the 4 sacks came from the defensive front. Along with the strong defensive front, the Browns also have CB Denzel Ward, who is one of the NFL's most highly anticipated young players in the league. They also feature CB Greedy Williams opposite Ward. This team is young and hungry to win and break the franchise's and NFL's longest playoff drought since 2003.

Now for thoughts on tonight's game, there are a few major questions that do come to mind. First question: How will the Jets be without both their offensive and defensive signal callers in Sam Darnold and CJ Mosley? This Jets team is very new, and right off the bat, is facing some major adversity on both sides of the football. In order for them to overcome this, guys like Le'veon Bell and Jamal Adams must become leaders and guide the team to victory, rather than just rest on the fact that Darnold and Mosley both cannot play. The Browns are not afraid to come to Metlife and disrupt the Jets in any shape or form.

Secondly, will the Jets offensive line be able to protect well against a tough front four for the Browns? Quite honestly, as optimistic as I want to be and say yes, I have to say no. The Jets should stick to short passing and a ground and pound with Le'veon Bell since we all know he can be trusted. An offensive dark horse could be Demaryius Thomas, who will be in his first ever game as a Jets player tonight as well. He could serve as that difference maker and Trevor Siemian's favorite target. Ultimately, he will be under a lot of pressure and must get rid of the ball quickly to save his team from losing, or he will be running for his life.

Lastly, How well will OBJ and Jarvis Landry do against Jets CB's Trumaine Johnson and Darryl Roberts? These two played together at LSU in college, and are a very dangerous Reciever combo. The Jets corners were heavily beat down the stretch last week against Buffalo, and WR John Brown had the last laugh with Darryl Roberts after he scored what would be the game winning TD for the Bills. To avoid this happening again, the Jets should consider playing off coverage on these two very fast recievers to avoid getting burned downfield. Otherwise, it could slowly become a Jets nightmare nobody wants to dream about.

At the end of the day, It will be a major test for the Jets, being down a few key members tonight. For tonights prediction, I can't say I have much optimism for tonight's game. Hopefully, the Jets prove me wrong, but the transition of QB's will play a major factor in this game.  Give me the Browns in this one 27-10.

Le'veon Bell must step up tonight in order for the
Jets to have any chance of winning
