Jets Vs Cowboys Preview

Hallelujah!! Sam Darnold is back today folks!! Just in time for a big primetime game at Metlife Stadium. Today, the Jets take on Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliot, and the dangerous Dallas Cowboys. Today is a major test, now with their top signal caller back in the lineup to see how they will fair with one of the more dangerous and top teams in the NFC.

As probably the most important note going into today's game, QB Sam Darnold is back after dealing with Mononucleosis since Week 2 and his time out of the lineup has proved costly. The offensive efficiency has gone down drastically in that time period, and many 3 and out drives have been present as well. With his return, more plays down the field will happen and RB Le'veon Bell's production may start to increase as he and Darnold connected well in week 1 against the strong Bills defense.  Offensively, Darnold's return may help spark guys like Robby Anderson, Jamison Crowder, and Josh Bellamy to have more production and much bigger games today than they've had all season. I would expect a Jets offensive uplift, and with this uplift, the defense can avoid having to be on the field the entire game.

As for the injury report, the Jets still deal with lots of other injuries. LB CJ Mosley is doubtful again today with the groin injury from week 1 and still is likely not to play. OG Kelechi Osemele is doubtful and will most likely be out today for the second straight week. Despite being eligible to return from suspension this week, TE Chris Herndon pulled his hamstring in practice this week, and he will be out due to that fact today. He likely will be back soon which is a good thing however, and he can serve as another offensive target for Sam Darnold to throw to as well. For the Cowboys, WR Randall Cobb is questionable today and is a game time decision, along with both OT's La'el Collins and Tyron Smith. With those injuries to the tackles, the Jets edge rushers must take advantage and expose that weakness today.

Now for a quick Cowboys preview. Their offense has three key weapons. QB Dak Prescott, RB Ezekiel Elliot, and WR Amari Cooper. Guys like WR Michael Gallup can also prove to be deadly for defenses as well for Dallas. The Jets secondary is in for a tough one today with these deadly Cowboys receivers and elite RB in Elliot. Although the defense has been pretty strong over the past few weeks, staying on the field too long will help the Cowboys offense tire them out a ton and can prove a difference maker. Dak Prescott is coming off of throwing 3 interceptions against the Packers last week as they lost 34-24. If his poor and inconsistent play continues, the Jets may have a very good opportunity to take advantage and win today's game.

Sam Darnold's return proves key for the Jets offensive success
With a much needed win at stake, what will it take for the Jets to overcome the adversity this entire season has brought so far, and what will the offense do today now that their signal caller is back? Leaders like Darnold and S Jamal Adams must step up as they know how important any game down the stretch will be if they try to come back from an 0-4 start to get back into the swing of things and back to the winning mindset. Although lots of questions still need to be answered, the Jets had one major plus in finally getting their main QB back today. Even despite Darnold's return, I still become skeptical of how the offensive line play will be in front of him today and how that'll be a difference maker. I feel that the Jets will give Prescott and the Cowboys offense a hard time, and will find ways to come up big at home turf, but the offense will still need to find themselves again, and Darnold will have to transition back into NFL play. I got the Cowboys in a low scoring game today winning 20-17.
