Jets Vs Jaguars Preview

After a rather disappointing week 7, The New York Jets have a major mess to clean up, and as their season sinks in the trenches, questions need to be answered. Decisions need to be made. and lots needs to be cleared up. This week reached an all-time low for the Jets upon releasing OG Kelechi Osemele, who was a big offseason signing, because the Jets felt he didn't need surgery for the torn labrum he sustained. Meanwhile, yet another game for the Jets is upon us, and they will be headed to TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida to take on Gardner Minshew II and the 3-4 Jaguars.

Although the Jets have a lot on their hands right now, one of their biggest concerns comes from their signal caller Sam Darnold, who was "seeing ghosts" last Monday Night as he went for 86 yards passing and 4 interceptions. Hopefully, this weak performance will be forgotten about and he can bounce back and have a strong performance this week. To make sure the Jets are efficient on offense, RB Le'veon Bell has to continue to be utilized along with WR Robby Anderson (who is on the trade block), WR Jamison Crowder, and WR Demaryius Thomas. With the continued use of these targets and hitting passes, Darnold should hopefully be back to his normal self today.

As for stopping the Jaguars defensively, their offense runs through 6th round draft pick QB Gardner Minshew II. He is an elusive and fast QB who features a strong arm downfield as well. The Jaguars also have former LSU RB Leonard Fournette in the backfield, who is a strong and hard RB to stop when he is on his game. At the receiver spots, they feature DJ Chark, a streaky and fast wideout, Dede Westbrook, who also can break away on any given play, along with Chris Conley, the ex Kansas City Chiefs Wideout. Since Minshew likes to throw downfield, The Jets secondary must be ready to make some plays today, especially CB Trumaine Johnson (also on the trade block) who has not been getting it done on defense. With his continued poor performance, he could find himself being off the Jets entirely very soon.

The Jets defensive line must be ready for the task of lots of pass rushing and run stopping plays with this offense, similar to the winning strategy when they were able to hold up Zeke and Dak Prescott for a good amount of the game against the Cowboys. Keeping Gregg Williams' defense off the field will also help contribute to better defensive play. Last week, the defense was taking the field a lot more than the offense was for sure, and that lead to a Tom Brady takeover in Metlife Stadium (A Jets fan's nightmare). Luckily, CJ Mosley is back hopefully for the rest of the year now, so his leadership must be present in order to see the Jets come out on top. Ultimately, this trend has to end soon, or we will be in for a very very long season of Jets football.

As for the Jaguars defensively, they feature two of the top defensive ends in the league, With Calais Cambell and Yannick Ngakoue on each end of the line. Both are QB disrupters, so the Jets offensive tackles Chuma Edoga (replacing Kelvin Beachum due to injury) and Brandon Shell must come ready to go without any letdown, as they will be in for a battle there all game with those guys. Along with those guys, LB Myles Jack is a presence on this defense along with CB AJ Bouye. Since the trade of CB Jalen Ramsey, AJ Bouye was already playing a big role on the Jags, and now is playing an even bigger one now that they are down one CB for the rest of the year. Those 4 guys defensively are a major force for the Jags and must be contained and exposed in order for the Jets to see daylight today.
Gardner Minshew II is known for a
big personality (and that beautiful mustache)

Now for prediction time!! While the Jags play yet another important game to keep their playoff hopes alive, the Jets play most likely to finish the end of their season, and this will in fact mark a bounce back performance for the Jets today. However, being that Jacksonville is hosting the game today, this gives a major edge towards Jacksonville, and soon after today ends, I will expect the Jets to be looking around for some possible trade offers to help defeat the tough season that is happening right in front of us. Give me the Jags here today 21-14
