IT DOES NOT GET MUCH WORSE THAN THIS

Yesterday, the New York Jets took on the winless Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium. Well, they are no longer winless. The absolutely pitiful Jets lost to the winless Dolphins who are as some say “Tanking for Tua”. Now the tank is ruined for them. As for the Jets, they could not have had a more demoralizing performance than they put on yesterday. They had every opportunity to win this football game but they continued to beat themselves.

As usual, penalties were a major problem for this undisciplined defense. They had 10 penalties for 105 yards. They made Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick look like Dan Marino. Absolutely embarrassing. These blunders need to be addressed immediately by the coaching staff. HC Adam Gase seems to have lost all interest in correcting these self-inflicted wounds.

In terms of QB Sam Darnold and the offense, they have only scored 20+ points once this season and that game being their lone win against the Cowboys. When a team does not score 20+ points in a game, there is a very good chance that they will often lose. This case has been seen way too many times for the Jets this season. This is even worse than the “Same Old Jets”. Darnold completed 27 of 39 passes for 260 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. While he only threw 1 interception, it was a costly one in the red-zone. In order to fix this problem going forward for the rest of the season, Darnold must be smarter with the football and just chuck it out of bounds or take a sack if the play he wants does not develop in a timely manner. In terms of solving this problem for next season and beyond, Jets GM Joe Douglas must draft solid O-Line players who can actually protect Darnold.

As of right now, Adam Gase has only led to Darnold regressing. The so called “quarterback whisper” has done absolutely nothing to help Darnold take that sophomore leap. Next week, the Jets will return home to face the Giants in the Battle for New York Supremacy. It is also the annual Salute to Service Day. While it is technically a Jets home game, do not be surprised to see many Giants fans there especially with the way the Jets have played the past 3 weeks. If Gase’s Jets get blown out in this game, it will be highly unlikely that he returns as head coach next season. However, we all know the wonderful ownership of CEO Christopher Johnson and that it will probably not happen with our luck although he would have 3 coaches to pay dating back to Todd Bowles, then Gase, then the next man in charge. They are already 1-7 and would have to run the table to even be considered for a wild card spot. It is amazing how quickly things change. This past summer, there was talk of the Jets ending their playoff drought since 2010, now that is all but a mere pipe dream. Don’t worry Jets fans…hopefully we can keep our bragging rights over the Giants.
