Jets Vs Giants Preview

Finally!!! The matchup lots of Jets fans wait for is here!! Bragging rights are on the line big time today as QB Sam Darnold and what seems like the lifeless Jets are playing host to their shared stadium rivals featuring Daniel Jones and the New York Giants. Today will also mark DE Leonard Williams' first game against the Jets since they traded him to the Giants a few weeks back. Even despite the Jets poor play, if there's going to be a game to win down the stretch, this would most certainly be the one.

Coming off of a weak performance in Miami last week, the Jets MUST shake off the major mistakes they made throughout that game and come into today with a clear mindset. Although QB Sam Darnold was playing alright for the first half (despite his interception), the Dolphins held him in check in the second half, and he was unable to make many completions due to the fact. Ultimately, the Goose egg was laid in Miami for the Jets last week and that'll mark on the schedule as a game to forget.

As for the injury report, The Jets continue to be down major pieces, but will be gaining one major piece back for sure today. TE Chris Herndon is set to make his season debut after serving his suspension and having a pulled hamstring. Sam Darnold must take advantage of the fact that he is back. He can serve as a major receiving target to throw to and will open up the entire rest of the field for Jets receivers.

The Jets have a few big targets listed as questionable today, but HC Adam Gase says he expects them all to be able to play. Those big names are RB Le'veon Bell, OG Brian Winters, WR Demaryius Thomas, DT Steve McClendon, DE Henry Anderson, LB Jordan Jenkins, and OT Kelvin Beachum (who we need back desperately). As for doubtful players, CB Daryl Roberts is unlikely to play along with C Ryan Kalil and LB's Neville Hewitt and CJ Mosley.

For a brief Giants preview, all these years, we've been used to hearing all the classic Eli Manning stories. However, the new man in town is Danny Dimes, or Giants QB Daniel Jones. Although young, Jones has shown lots and lots of growth through this NFL season, and is helping a Giants team that has struggled in the past few years. His running ability and elusiveness is a force to be reckoned with. They also feature probably the best overall RB in the NFL in Saquon Barkley, who is an absolute beast, and will give the Jets defense a very hard time today. No matter how well you do against him, he can never fully be contained. Yes folks!! He's that good!!

Luckily for the Jets, It seems likely that the Giants will be without their two top offensive targets in WR Sterling Sheppard and TE Evan Engram. At receiver, Golden Tate will be the top guy along with Darius Slayton on the other side, who although not a popular name, is streaky and could have the Jets secondary very flat-footed. At TE, Rhett Ellison will be the main man there, but I wouldn't expect him to play a major factor on the receiving end.

Leonard Williams may consider this a revenge game as
this is the first time he has played the Jets since being traded
The two major keys to today's game for me today are pretty simple: How will Chris Herndon help boost the Jets offense, and how will Leonard Williams show up to play against his former team that traded him just a few weeks back? I would also make another key to the game about how Saquon Barkley will do today, but lets face it Jets fans: He will be a nightmare to deal with all game PERIOD! If TE Chris Herndon helps spread out the Jets offense like he has been capable of doing at times during last season, he will be in for a big game against the weak Giants secondary and defense. That will help WR Jamison Crowder find more targets along with a lot of deep shots to WR Robby Anderson as well. As for Leonard Williams, it will be weird to see him back at Metlife, but wearing the other team's colors. Williams wants to come after the Jets big time today, so I would 100% expect him to do so.

Its prediction time!! Sadly, my prediction isn't going to be what Jets fans want to hear. Although Jets fans know how much it means to everyone to beat the Giants, Their continued poor performance will come and haunt them when least expected. I don't expect a lot of defense from either side in this game either today. It will for sure be a high scoring game today, but I got the Giants over the Jets 34-27.
