ONE SMALL STEP FOR MAN…ONE JET LEAP FOR DARNOLD

Today, the New York Jets took on the Oakland Raiders at MetLife Stadium. The Jets played their best game of the year by far, blowing out the Raiders 34-3. People may claim the Raiders were tired from trekking cross-country and other excuses but the Jets were obviously the better team today. They are now 4-7 on the season already equaling their win total of last year. In addition, this is the first time since October 2017 that the Jets have won 3 straight games.
For the third consecutive week, QB Sam Darnold has continued to impress any doubters. He completed 20 of 29 passes for 315 yards, 2 touchdowns, and no interceptions. This is the fourth time in his career where he has thrown for over 300 yards. Also, when he was pressured he was able to remain smart with the football and throw it away as opposed to making bad decisions.
In terms of the Jets defense, they held an offense that has scored 22.5 points per game to only 3. This is not an easy task to do. DC Gregg Williams should be given a lot of credit for how his defense played today. Like I mentioned last week, the Jets would need to play their best defense yet and be disciplined in order to win today. That is just what they did as penalties were not a problem at all today. However, in order for the Jets to make a magical playoff run, they will need to win out and get some help with other teams losing. It is not impossible… stranger things have happened.

Next week, the Jets will travel to Cincinnati to play the winless Bengals. If the Jets are serious about making this improbable run, they cannot afford another letdown like they already did with the Dolphins. Get excited Jets fans…it looks like your team is one week away from picking up its fifth win, which is more than we had last year. J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS!!!
