BELL HAS THE LAST LAUGH OVER STEELERS

Yesterday, the New York Jets took on the Pittsburgh Steelers at MetLife Stadium in their final home game of the 2019 season. The Jets were able to shock the Steelers by beating them 16-10. Now, Jets RB Le’veon Bell got his sweet revenge. This victory puts Pittsburgh in danger of missing out on the playoffs for the second straight season. The Jets’ goal heading into this game was to spoil their playoff chances, and that is just what they did. This in turn causes a winning season for the Jets at MetLife Stadium as they are 5-3 at home. In addition, the Jets were able to pick up their sixth win of the season.

QB Sam Darnold and the offense began clicking early in the game, resulting in a touchdown to Robby Anderson, giving the Jets an early 7-0 lead. Darnold completed 16 of 26 passes for 183 yards, 1 touchdown, and no interceptions. Heading into this game, Darnold knew that he had to play as clean a game as possible if his team wanted to win today. While Bell did not rush for over 100 yards today, he had over 25 carries which reminded Steelers fans that he is still a force to be reckoned with.
On defense, having S Jamal Adams back from injury provided a much-needed spark. The Jets are only playing for pride at this point and the defense had lots of it today holding the Steelers to only 10 points. Also, penalties were not an issue as DC Gregg Williams continued to stress upon the importance of playing disciplined football and finishing a game. This season, the last time the Jets blew a 4th quarter lead was back in Week 1 against the Bills. Since then, they have done a remarkable job protecting leads in the 4th quarter.

Next week, the Jets will wrap up their season at Orchard Park for a rematch with the Buffalo Bills. The Bills are already in the playoffs so it is possible they could be resting some of their starters. This could be an opportunity that the Jets could capitalize on. Again, pride is on the line as any hopes of the playoffs are long gone at least for this year. Get excited Jets fans…your team gave a legitimate playoff contender a run for their money today. One more game until next year! J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS!!!
