JETS 3-GAME WIN STREAK COMES TO HALT IN A MOST DISTURBING WAY

On Sunday, the New York Jets took on the winless Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium. However, the Bengals are no longer winless as they defeated the Jets in a very crushing way. The final score of the game was 22-6. The Jets are now 4-8 on the season ending all hopes of running the table and making a playoff run. They are now the first team in NFL history to lose to two winless teams (Miami-0-7 and Cincinnati-0-11) with at least seven losses in a single season.

All day, the offense struggled to find any rhythm. Darnold only completed 28 of 48 passes for 239 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions. The O-Line once again was horrendous and did not protect Darnold as he was sacked four times. Also, the pre-snap penalties really killed the Jets ultimately forcing unmanageable 2nd and 3rd downs. In addition, the Jets receivers had six dropped passes today. With these types of mistakes, a team cannot expect to win many games. These are some of the reasons why the Jets are only 4-8.

The Jets are lucky that this game wasn’t worse than it was. Had the offense played this bad against a team like the Chiefs or Ravens with high-scoring offenses, they would have easily gotten blown out by much more. Considering the circumstances, the defense kept them in the game not giving up too many red-zone touchdowns.

/Users/20202080/Desktop/images.jpegNext week, the Jets will return home to host the Miami Dolphins in a rematch held during WWE Kids Day. They cannot afford to get swept by a team that was “supposed” to be tanking. The Dolphins were able to beat the Eagles today 37-31 as QB Ryan Fitzpatrick was able to score 23 unanswered points. In addition, the Jets have struggled against teams that have nothing to lose. This is quite upsetting since their dominating performance against the Raiders last week. The Jets coming off a three-game win streak appeared to overlook Cincinnati which turned out to be a trap game for them. In order to get a victory next week, the Jets will need to cut down on penalties, the O-Line will need to do a much better job protecting Darnold, and the entire team will need to be ready to play for all 4 quarters. Regardless of a team’s record, divisional matchups are usually down to the wire. Don’t worry Jets fans…this was not the first time your team fell into a trap and they will put up a much better fight next week.
