Jets Vs Bills Final Season Preview

As the final game of the 2019 season approaches, Jets fans hope to end on a big bang to finish out what could potentially be a 7-9 season, already finishing with a better record than in 2018 (4-12). Today could also be a very winnable game for QB Sam Darnold and the boys considering that the Bills will be resting some starters in order to prepare for a playoff run, and it looks likely that Bills QB Josh Allen may not play the entire game either.

Going into Christmas week with a huge 16-10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Fan Appreciation Day at Metlife Stadium, The Jets are playing with some confidence heading into this game. QB Sam Darnold went 16/26 for 183 yards and a beautiful TD pass to WR Robby Anderson, but the real performance came on the defensive side of the ball. S Marcus Maye had a key interception early in the game in the end zone and the defense stepped up big. With this big performance from the defense, they could've played major spoilers to the Steelers and potentially knocked them out of the playoffs.

Even with a good performance last week, the injury list only continues to get bigger and bigger. OG Alex Lewis is out this week in notable starters out, but 8 players are listed as questionable this week. Hopefully, all of those 8 guys are ok to go for the final week of the season. Robby Anderson is one of the 8 on that list that is questionable as well. Even with the Jets down numbers, there is no excuse not to come out and play the best you can possibly play against a resting Bills team. If we remember what happened earlier this year with the Bills, we know as Jets fans that it was a game to forget. Today presents a chance to get back at the Bills for earlier this season and hopefully to end their regular season on a loss before their playoff pursuits begin.

For the Bills, QB Josh Allen is a solid running and passing QB mix, and has had a very good season this year. It seems likely he will probably play the first half, and we may see a bit of backup QB Matt Barkley as well. He also has shared success against the Jets in the past. If anyone recalls the 41-10 loss against the Bills during the 2018 season at Metlife Stadium, Barkley was a big reason we lost that day, so we cannot take him lightly either. In the backfield, they have veteran RB Frank Gore, who splits carries with Devin Singletary, who both have had solid seasons. At receivers, they have Cole Beasley and John Brown, who both despite being short guys, take advantage of defenses with their insane speed. The Jets corners must not overlook either of these guys or they might see themselves getting beat deep downfield.

For today's prediction, it seems likely that the Bills may start to let players rest as the game progresses to avoid injuries at all costs going into the playoffs. With this comes a chance for the Jets starters to outduel the Bills backup players. Last time QB Sam Darnold played in Buffalo, he played one of the best games in his career, and the Jets won in walk off style late in the fourth quarter. Although the game may not be that entertaining again, it is always fun getting to see Darnold and Josh Allen square off, as they are both not only QB's that both played college football on the West Coast, but they also got drafted in the same draft class back in 2018. I have a good feeling that some sweet division rivalry revenge can be in store today. Give me the Jets in this one today winning the season finale 21-17.
