JETS HAVE WORST START IN FRANCHISE HISTORY WITH HEARTBREAKING LOSS TO PATS

Last Game On Monday Night Football, the New York Jets took on the New England Patriots at MetLife Stadium. Despite being without their starting quarterback in Sam Darnold (shoulder injury), backup QB Joe Flacco had a pretty good game. However, it was not enough as the Jets lost on a last-second field goal 30-27. This is now their fifth straight losing season.

In terms of the offense, Flacco played well. He completed 18 of 25 passes for 262 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 1 interception. It was very nice seeing the Jets offense take shots down the field. This has been lacking during the first nine weeks of the season. The lone interception that Flacco threw though was during a critical stage in the game in which the Jets had a 27-20 lead in the 4th quarter. The Patriots then responded by marching down the field to tie the game up. The Jets had one more chance to get into field goal range and win the game, but their offense quickly went 3 and out. In so many words, this was another episode of Same Old Jets. They played very well for three and a half quarters but found a way to lose late in the 4th quarter. If you look at the games, they were in during the 4th quarter, they could easily be 3-6 right now heading into their bye week. Instead, they are still winless at 0-9 and will miss the playoffs for the tenth consecutive season.

In terms of the defense, they too played a good game. It was evident that they were tiring out during the 4th quarter as their offense was unable to generate anything. This led to penalties being committed on crucial drives, which extended them and led to Patriots points. Even without Tom Brady, the Jets still could not beat the Patriots. Yes, this wasn’t an embarrassing blowout like most primetime games against the Patriots, but the truth is that the Jets still have not won a Monday Night Football game at home since Week 6 of 2011.

The good news is that the Jets cannot lose next week because it is their bye week. It does not seem likely that they will make a coaching change now though. It appears that Gase’s job is safe for the rest of the season. After their bye week though, they will travel west to take on the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers, like the Jets are also famous for blowing big leads in the 4th quarter. Somebody must win. Jets fans...is this where your team picks up their first win of the season?
