Jets Vs Chiefs Preview

As another depressing Sunday approaches in the land of the New York Jets, they travel to Arrowhead Stadium to take on defending Super Bowl Champs Patrick Mahomes, former Jet Le'veon Bell, Tyreek Hill, and the mighty Kansas City Chiefs. Sadly there isn't much upside coming into today's matchup, as it seems likely it may just be "another week" in the books.

After last week's 18-10 loss at Metlife to the Bills, the Jets were playing down considering they completely went quiet in the second half and their offense became non existent. Believe it or not, they actually were winning 10-6 at halftime and had a pretty convincing first half of football. QB Sam Darnold fell apart after a strong start, and so did rookie RB La'mical Perine. He was strong in the first half, and had his first NFL TD. Soon after, things fell apart. If the Jets don't come out of the gate strong today with one of the NFL's best teams, today will become a day to forget.

RB La'mical Perine continues to prove why
he should be the Jets starting RB going forward
A few injuries to note for today's game include both starting WR's Breshad Perrimann (Concussion) and Jamison Crowder (Groin), who will both be out of today's game. This gives opportunities for guys like Denzel Mims and Braxton Berrios to have big games today if the Jets offense can get going at some point. RB La'mical Perine picks up his first start today with serviceable RB Frank Gore backing him up. K Sam Ficken (Groin) is out again this week, so Sergio Castillo will be kicking again for the Jets today. This week also has the Jets entire starting defense healthy and ready to go, which is huge, so they have their best guys on the field.

As for the Chiefs, this team is dominant and there is no doubt about it. QB Patrick Mahomes proves to be one of if not the best QB in the league, and with rookie RB Clive Edwards-Helaire, WR Tyreek Hill, and star TE Travis Kelce, this team is very hard to stop. RB Le'veon Bell looks to be featured more today as well, especially since it's against his former team. If he has a bigger game than Edwards-Helaire, I wouldn't take it as a surprise. They also have three very fast Wideouts in Hill, Mecole Hardman, and Byron Pringle. Chiefs OC Eric Bienemy really has a group of guys to work with and strong play calling techniques that can catch any defense on its toes. This offense is a juggernaut, and the Jets defense will be in for a field day, no matter how well they play or what the result is.

For their defense, they feature DE's Frank Clark and Chris Jones up front, and SS Tyrann "Honeybadger" Mathieu and FS Daniel Sorensen. Although this team is mostly based around their amazing offensive game, they have an average defense that can still make plays at given times, but is definitely a beatable defense if you take shots at them. If the Jets feel there is any chance of survival, they must be willing to take shots downfield and newly appointed offensive play caller Dowell Loggains needs to push Sam Darnold to throw the ball downfield when necessary. This game also gives RB La'mical Perine a chance to continue to prove his worth and why he should be a contender to be the Jets starting RB going forward. The Jets must take shots today in order to be competitive if anything in this matchup.

Another depressing week of Jets football rolls through, and it seems as though there's nothing left. Maybe the debut of rookie DT Jabari Zuniga will be exciting to watch with little to no hopes of winning. Maybe QB Sam Darnold and the Jets offense can stay consistent for two halves instead of one. Ultimately, the hypotheticals will only get you so far in football. I'll take the Chiefs winning this one 34-14.
