Jets Vs Rams Preview

As Christmas week approaches, the Jets remain on the West Coast following last Sunday's attrocious loss 40-3 to the Seahawks. This week however, they will be at Sofi Stadium for their second time this season, where they will be playing the Los Angeles Rams instead of the Chargers. The Rams are a much better team than the Chargers, and unlike the Chargers game, this might not be as close.

With the trend the Jets are heading into, it seems like winning might not happen this year. With only three weeks left in the entire regular season and no wins to show for it, this has been nothing short of a dissapointment for the Jets. As the weeks go by, the losses get harder and harder to fathom, and many fans wish they probably weren't Jets fans this year. We all wish something would just go right for a change this season, but this could set up a very high draft pick going into next year's draft, potentially a number 1 overall pick. Many fans think Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence might be a top candidate. We might not know it yet, but this could potentially be QB Sam Darnold's last season in New York if they decide to move on from him and HC Adam Gase.

Aside from that, today's game is another game to focus on, and the Jets should just look ahead and leave everything else in the past. In order to play well today, Darnold and the offense must be more efficient, and hopefully, be able to convert on FG's (unfortunately Sergio Castillo saw the end of his Jets season last week with his poor performance). It seems like K Sam Ficken will be back today to face his former team as well, as he comes off IR. The Jets will have a test with a solid Rams defense, so Sam Darnold might be running around a lot today or forcing quick passes.

For the injury report, the Jets have 4 injuries to note. WR Jamison Crowder is questionable today with a calf injury. He has been in limited practice, so I'd expect him to play today. Defensively, DT Folorunso Fatukasi is out today, so Tanzel Smart will be getting the start for him up front today. LB Jordan Jenkins and S Ashtyn Davis remain on IR and again will not play this week. Lastly, WR Denzel Mims is now out of COVID protocol, so he is back this week as well. For the Rams, it seems like there are limited injuries and that their whole starting lineup is a go today.

Aaron Donald (left) and Jared Goff (Right)
are two of the top players in the NFL
For a quick Rams Preview this week, they are a solid group and are looking to win the NFC West this year. They were in the Super Bowl just two seasons ago as well, and have built a strong caliber team made for the postseason. Lead by QB Jared Goff, their offense is a juggernaut and where they have the most success. They have three RB's they use in Cam Akers, Darell Henderson Jr, and Malcolm Brown. They also feature their go to WR's in Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp. They have a serviceable TE with Tyler Higbee also. Overall, this offense is one of the top in the league, and the Jets will be seeing a lot of points being scored today against them if their offense can get going.

Defensively, the Rams have some Pro Bowl level players. Two of them are DE Aaron Donald and CB Jalen Ramsey. Donald and Ramsey are arguably two of the best defensive players in the NFL. To have them on the same defense is a whole other story. Without even mentioning any other players on their defense, you already know that they're a ferocious attacking group, and this will be no easy task for the Jets offense to win. Donald will be after Darnold all game, so that could be a potential nightmare moment waiting to happen.

If the Jets want to have any shot of winning, they must be more efficient on offense and throwing the ball downfield. The more they settle for FG's, the uglier this game will get by possession. I don't have much confidence with the Jets winning this week, so the Rams definitely have the upper hand here. I have the Rams winning today by a score of 38-10.

Hopefully, Denzel Mims' return to the lineup
will help spark the struggling Jets offense
