JETS ARE NOW OFFICIALLY THE LAUGHING STOCK OF THE AFC EAST

Last Sunday, the New York Jets took on the Miami Dolphins at MetLife Stadium. Unfortunately, the Jets lost the game 24-17. The Jets are now in a 3-game losing streak and have fallen to 2-8 on the season, which is dead last in the AFC East.

In terms of the offense in this game, they did whatever they needed to do to stay competitive in this game. Backup QB Joe Flacco had a pretty solid day and took very good care of the football, unlike Mike White the week before. He completed 24 of 39 passes for 291 yards, 2 touchdowns, and no interceptions. One of the biggest highlights of the day was a 62-yard touchdown pass to rookie WR Elijah Moore.

In terms of the defense, while they did not give up more than 30 points last week, it was them who potentially cost the Jets this game. One of the worst penalties on the afternoon was midway through the 4th quarter when DE John Franklin-Myers was called for a roughing the passer on what would’ve been a third down stop. In that case, the Dolphins would’ve had to settle for a field goal but instead, they got a whole new set of downs and eventually scored the go ahead touchdown. This was a game the Jets very much could’ve won being that the Dolphins have not been very competitive this year either. However, the Jets beat themselves this afternoon with costly penalties, poor clock management by burning two timeouts in the 3rd quarter, and not being able to generate anything offensively in the 4th quarter.

This week, the Jets will travel to Houston to take on the Texans. The biggest question of the week will be who is the Jets starting QB? Will it be Flacco again or the second overall pick in Zach Wilson? (Update: Zach Wilson) Nonetheless, this is a game that the Jets should be able to win because the Texans are in a tanking position even though they stunned the Titans in Tennessee last weekend. If the Jets want to win this week, they cannot beat themselves with costly penalties and will need to play a disciplined game for all four quarters. If the Jets do manage to win this week, they will already have more wins than they had all of last season. Don’t worry Jets fans...hopefully Zach Wilson plays next week and gets to showcase what he has learned watching both White and Flacco play while he was injured.
