GANG GREEN IS NOW BECOMING A SERIOUS CONTENDER

On Sunday, the New York Jets took on the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. Before this season, if anybody told me the Jets would go into one of the most hostile environments in the NFL, beat a Super Bowl contender 27-10, and move to 4-2 on the season, I would have said they were crazy. I expected the Jets to show improvement this season but thought they were at least a year away from becoming a legitimate threat in the NFL. The Jets now have equaled their win total from all of last season in only six games played. Head Coach Robert Saleh really needs to be given a lot of credit for how his team fights hard for him every week and does whatever they can to try to win every week. We have not seen this in a Jets head coach since Rex Ryan. The Jets have now won 3 games in a row for the first time since November 2019.

In terms of the offense, RB Breece Hall once again carried the load for them. He rushed for 116 yards and carried the ball 20 times. QB Zach Wilson did not have to do a whole lot but had some clutch throws late in the game to ensure that the Jets improved to 4-2 on the season. Wilson completed 10 of 18 passes for 110 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions. This is the second straight game that the Jets have not turned the ball over in and they are 3-0 in games that Wilson has started in.

In terms of the defense, they had their best game of the season. They put significant pressure on future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers and kept the Packers' entire offense out of check. Once again, DT Quinnen Williams continues to make a name for himself in not just New York but the rest of the league. Williams registered 5 tackles, 2 sacks, a forced fumble, and a finger on a blocked field goal.

In addition, special teams deserve a shout-out as well. The Jets' special teams blocked a field goal and returned a blocked punt for a touchdown this afternoon. Since Special Teams coach Brant Boyer took over the unit in 2016, the Jets' special teams have been dynamic at times but this is really the first time they have played at another level. The best part is that the Jets haven’t put it all together yet and they are still 4-2 on the season.

Next week, the Jets will travel to the Mile High City to take on the Denver Broncos. Throughout the Jets' history, they have had some tough losses out there. However, the Broncos are struggling to find their identity and their QB Russell Wilson looks to be washed. If the Jets wish to get to 5-2 though, they will need to be able to establish a running game, not commit stupid penalties, and not suffer altitude sickness. This cannot be a Same Old Jets type of game if they are serious about making some noise this season. Get excited Jets fans…your team can win games in multiple ways now…J-E-T-S, JETS JETS JETS!!!
