GANG GREEN RIDING 4-GAME WIN STREAK BUT AT WHAT COST?

Two Sundays ago, the New York Jets took on the Denver Broncos at Empower Field in the Mile High City. Over the years, the Jets have had their fair share of heartbreaking losses in Denver. That was not the case in this game however as the Jets won 16-9 to move to 5-2 on the season. This was the first time the Jets had won a game in Denver since 2010, which was the last time Gang Green made the playoffs. In addition, this is the first time since 2015 that the Jets had a 4-game winning streak. With the fifth win on the season, the Jets have already improved their win total from last year when they won only 4 games.

In terms of the offense, they did just enough to win the ball game. QB Zach Wilson completed 16 of 26 passes for only 121 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions. Early in the game, rookie RB Breece Hall had a 62-yard touchdown for the only touchdown the Jets would score this afternoon. Unfortunately, he left the game with a knee injury in the second quarter and it looks like he could miss some time due to it. (Update: Torn ACL) As a result, second year back Michael Carter and veteran Ty Johnson saw a lot of action today in the second half keeping the Denver defense on their heels. In addition, WR Corey Davis left the game with an apparent injury along with Alijah Vera-Tucker. The Jets will need to keep the injuries at a minimum if they are to do big things this year.

In terms of the defense, what else can be said about them? They just continue to get better week after week. Even though they were going up against a backup quarterback in Brett Rypien, Russell Wilson hasn’t exactly been lighting it up for the Broncos either. CB Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner continues to be the real deal and is quickly turning into the next Revis. However, there were quite a bit of penalties committed in this game that will definitely need to be cleaned up moving forward. The Jets are very lucky that it did not cost them the game.

Last week, the Jets would return home to take on their bitter rivals, the New England Patriots. The Jets have not beaten the Patriots since 2015 when Eric Decker caught the game-winning touchdown pass in overtime. Since then, the Jets haven’t really given their fans a lot to cheer about but they sure have this year and will hope to do so next week at MetLife Stadium. This would also be the debut of the Jets wearing their “black-out” uniforms this season and the Jets sometimes play their best football when wearing those uniforms. Get excited Jets fans…we are almost at Halloween and your team is very much relevant at this point in the season. J-E-T-S, JETS JETS JETS!!!
